Phipps Conservatory and bontanical gardens has separate rooms devoted to tropical plants,and arid desert type plants. They have unusual plants to sell for your home and garden, too.

Phipps is the most impressive during the summer, when the butterfly room is open. There is nothing more magical than a butterfly quietly landing on your shoulder!
Pros: inexpensive, convenient, good atmosphere Cons: somewhat small, sometimes hot inside
