We are pleased to announce the appointment of a new Director of the Wichita Falls Museum of Art (WFMA) as Director. We are looking for an innovative, cooperative and new director to position the museum for the development of exhibitions, programs and events that benefit all members of our community and the general public. This requires a person who is distinguished in communication, who has a great imagination and who looks for opportunities for collaboration offered by rich and valuable museum experiences. Develop a vision of how we can serve our broad electorate while taking full advantage of the museum's recent status as an academic museum while continuing our mission as a free art museum in Texas.
Strengthen community participation and engagement through effective linking and development of partnerships with the community, local businesses, community organisations and other stakeholders.
It contains over 1,500 volumes dealing with the history of textile art in Texas from the early 19th century to the present day. There are also about 20 quilts with local heritage planned, as well as a permanent art collection documenting textile art. The Alliance is also developing a database that will include information about Wichita Falls' local arts and heritage to provide a more comprehensive picture of its history and heritage.

The Museum of Art is just one of the many great museums and historic sites that Wichita Falls calls home. The Texas Historical Society, the Texas State Museum and the National Park Service are just a few of the places where history is celebrated. In May, our museum organizes a day - a long program in which over 250 mentally and physically handicapped children participate in arts and crafts and interact with performing and visual artists.
Meanwhile, Wichita Falls Ballet Theatre also produces several shows a year with professionally trained young dancers, including our annual favorite, "The Nutcracker." As far as music is concerned, it is hard to beat the classics of our symphony orchestra, which conducts five shows each year with renowned guest musicians and conductors from all over the world.
For art viewing, the Wichita Falls Museum of Art (MSU) is a delightful setting to admire the art of many of the world's most famous artists, most of whom hail from North Texas and Southern Oklahoma. There are several other spectacular paintings painted by other artists scattered across the waterfalls of Wichita. These photos give an insight into how our surrounding community has changed and evolved over the years, from its early history to its present.
Wichita Falls residents have long dreamed of establishing a museum, but it wasn't until the early 1940s that efforts were made to do so. After two failed attempts to establish a museum of North Texas history, the Junior League began plans to establish a permanent museum at Midwestern State University. In the last 25 years, this museum has undergone a number of changes in its location and in the history of Wichita Falls. In 1996 Bowling Soup moved to Denton, Texas, and in 1998 they recorded their first full-length album, "Bowling Soup. On February 27th they announced a tour of the Midwest and Northeast of the USA, led by the band Lucky Boys Confusion and their band Vanished. Patent Pending Freshman (15) accompanied her on the tour, which began in Wichita Falls, where "Vanished" took over the "Lucky Boys" spot for the first three dates, then continued to New York City, Boston, Chicago and Philadelphia.
Also in Wichita Falls is Vernon College, which offers a 2-year degree, as well as a number of other colleges and universities. The Board of Brush in Kansas City, Kansas is located near the college, while the Board is located in Brush, Ichita Falls, across from the mall.
For nature and exercise enthusiasts, there are many outdoor opportunities, including Lake Wichita, which offers several acres of hiking and biking trails that also run through the city. The park is also a place to leave your car and take a one-mile jogging trail around the waterfalls, and the hiking trails are easy to reach as they are just a stone's throw from the Wichita Falls Convention and Visitors Center.
With nearly 40 city parks, Wichita Falls offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy nature. The art scene is spectacular and there is a great variety of art in the city as well as a wide selection of local and national art galleries.
